TORRE GUACETO, HIKING & SNORKELLING (BETWEEN THE DUNES AND THE SEA)
The itinerary focuses on the coastline of the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, in a strip of land as narrow as it is rich in biodiversity.
It will begin with the discovery of the morphology of the dune system and its particular variation of vegetation, from the pioneer species of the beach to the shrubby ones of the Mediterranean maquis of the backdune, and will then continue along the coastline with short stops among the sandy coves, low rocky promontories, fossil dunes and archaeological excavations. The walking tour will be followed by snorkelling dives, with observations and in-depth studies of the marine ecosystem, its habitats and the various species that populate it, with the chance to admire the remarkable size of the sea, one of the many tangible results of the Protected Marine Area’s fruitful protection work.
