We will walk in the majestic, ancient beech forest of the Umbra Forest, immersed in vegetation consisting largely of centuries-old beech trees.

We will start from the Umbra Pond and head to an ancient barracks in the center of the forest, once useful for controlling human activities in these places. Crossing karst sinkholes and admiring thousand-year-old yew trees, we will return to the meeting point by a loop trail.

The route is mostly flat and suitable even for young children (7/8 years and up recommended).

The Umbra Forest is the green nucleus of the Gargano Park, a UNESCO site for its residual beech forests from the last glaciation and a place with an incredible rate of biodiversity thanks to the pedo-climatic conditions that make it almost a northern European forest transplanted to the Mediterranean and, for this reason, a popular destination for all nature and botany enthusiasts.
